Various Things About the Mountain Goats, Including a Song

Fact 1: The Mountain Goats are the best.

Fact 2: they will be coming to Orlando in January, and I live there, and this is good news on a number of levels.

Fact 3: their best album, Tallahassee (no arguments entertained) will have been released 10 years ago next year.

Fact 4: the syntax of that last sentence is a little tortured.

Fact 5: I’m not going to fix it.

Fact 6: a wise man named, improbably, Blade Barringer is putting together a compilation called Tallahassee Turns Ten to celebrate this fact, and he would like the support of all right-thinking people who value the input of John Darnielle in their daily lives.

Fact 7: you can contribute (and should, as I will) to his kickstarter campaign here.

Fact 8: I will be recording a cover of “See America Right” to submit for consideration for this compilation. We’ll see what happens there.

Fact 9: I have covered the Mountain Goats before, to, I think, reasonably good effect. You can listen to that here.
